From 5th to 7th of May 2010 arranged UEFA Referee Committee in Nyon the 6th seminar of the FIFA women referees and women assistant referees. At this workshop participated new FIFA referees on the list 2010 as well as the referees and referee assistant who were appointed on forthcoming UEFA Womens U-17 and U-19 Championships.

Almost 40 FIFA women referees and assistant referess passed physical test and a lot of useful lectures during 3 days. We are glad that also two Slovak women referees were there as well; FIFA women referee Petra Chuda from Bratislava and FIFA women assitant referee Miroslava Obertova from Partizanske.

Seminar was oficially opened on Wednesday evening in hotel Barcallore where all girls met. Bo Karlssonn, the member of the UEFA Referee Committee and responsible for the women refereeing, delivered first speech.  Then all participants introduced onself. At the end of the evening the referees got instructions for the physical test that took place next morning.

Thursday morning all met at Colovray stadium. It was very cold weather and each referee and assistant referee has to prove physical preparation during the test. As Mr. Karlsson mentioned: ,,If the referee is not healthy he does not have necessary self-confidence during match“. Slovak referees passed the test without any problems. In the afternoon programme continued in UEFA headquarter where the educational part of the seminar could start. First lecture prepared Xavier Dallemagne and he was talking how to avoid the injury. He tried to explain how important it is to be focused on regular physical preparation, warming-up and regeneration.

Women referees have to follow new trends in a women football which is increasing every year. Therefore the next event was an analyse of the key decissions of the women referees during the last  WOMAN EURO in Finland.

Last day of the seminar the program started with a lecture of Hugh Dallas. He was talking about several topics like how to read and prevent the situations during the game, procedure of treatment on the field of play, deliberate handball, cooperation between referee and asistent referee, etc. All participants discussed about these topics with Mr. Dallas, as well as in the groups.

At the end of the seminar all referees and assistant refeeres met during the lunch in UEFA restaurant where they could share the contacts and they look forward to meet again soon. Such a workshop it is not just about the education and testing but it is  a great opportunity to meet new people.

We are glad the Slovak referees returned with a lot of new experiences but also with a confirmed appointments for the incoming tournaments. Petra Chuda has got an appointment at the end of May on final  U-19 in Macedonia. Miroslava Obertová will be in June on final U-17 in Switzerland. We wish them all the best and we are sure they will present Slovak football and Slovak refereeing successfully.
