Introduction of new FIFA assistant referee Ondrej Brendza

Let us introduce a new FIFA assistant referee from Eastern Slovakia. Ondrej Brendza is 36 years old. He graduated at Faculty of Law. On the present he lives with his family in a small town Stropkov which is very well known as a birthplace of the excellent football players e.g. Gostič (Slovan Bratislava), Rajter (Žilina) or Čobej (Artmedia). And at the some time Stropkov is a bithplace of excellent former Slovak referees as Micheľ or Cichý. Ondrej used to play a football in village Breznica then in Stropkov. His referee career started in 1993 and from 1994 to 2002 was a referee in regional leagues.

In 2002 was Ondrej Brendza approved as referee in the Slovak national leagues. At the beginning was refereeing 5 matches as a referee and later became an assistant referee. Until now Ondrej has been appointed in 118 matches in top national league. His idol among referees used to be Bohdan Benedik former FIFA referee from Košice. And of course Ľuboš Micheľ who is also a close friend of him. |

First international match in UEFA CUP between Brann Bergenn and Atvidaberks Ondrej managed in 2006. Another international match in European league between Rosenborg Trondheim and FC Brugge Ondrej considers as the best match yet. (jm) |
